What’s In Season
Take a look at What’s In Season this month at the Markets!
What’s In Season
FRUIT
APPLES & PEARS: New season apples are in and tasting great! We’ve got a wide variety, including Kanzi, Missiles, Rockets (so little and cute!), Fujis, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Royal Galas, Grannies – plus organic Fujis and Royal Galas. New season pears have also landed: Corella, Williams, Nashis, and Papples.
EXOTIC FRUIT: QLD mangosteens are in season and tasting amazing. We’ve also got Aussie kiwis, dragonfruit, and guavas. Autumn is delivering plenty of flavour with persimmons, quinces, feijoas, and kumquats.
TROPICAL: Melons and pineapples are a bit scarce at the moment.
GRAPES: Still great quality late-season Aussie grapes around.
CITRUS: Citrus season is kicking off! Early mandarins are decent – we’ve got Imperials, Tangolds, Satsuma, and Afourers. Aussie navels have just started – they’ll get better as the season progresses. Finger limes are available, and lemons are great value.
BERRIES: Raspberries and blackberries are excellent value right now. Blueberries are very scarce. Strawberries are in their changeover season – supply is moving from VIC to QLD, so while they’re decent value, they don’t last as long in the punnet.
PLUMS: That’s a wrap – last week marked the end of the season for plums.
VEGETABLES
TOMATOES: Heirloom varieties are still eating beautifully.
ASPARAGUS: Imported only at the moment.
BEANS & PEAS: Round beans are scarce this week.
AVOCADOS: Shepherds are in season, and Hass avocados are improving week by week.
GOOD VALUE PICKS: Great buys this week include cucumbers, English spinach, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, bunched leeks, and spring onions, which are proving popular again.
FLOWERS: Proteas are in season and looking stunning. Pink lilies are blooming with lovely large blossoms, and tulips are back in season too.
