What’s In Season

Take a look at What’s In Season this month at the Markets!

What’s In Season

FRUIT

APPLES & PEARS: New season Galas, Sassy and Granny Smith apples are in. Williams and Clapp’s pears are also arriving and eating beautifully.

MANGOES: We’re nearing the end of mango season. Honey Golds aren’t the cheapest right now, but they’re still tasting fantastic - savour them while you can.

TROPICAL FRUIT: Watermelons are great value and eating well. Sapo melons are available, and Mini Lees are in store and proving very popular.

CHERRIES: Late season cherries are still around and holding up well.

GRAPES: Australian grapes continue to impress. Thompson Seedless are our pick this week, and Candy Crunch has some very loyal fans.

CITRUS: Lemons are better value this week. Finger limes are available, and limes are particularly juicy and full of flavour.

BERRIES: Berries are starting to look forward to the cooler weather. Raspberries are decent value this week, while blueberries aren’t quite at their best.

STONEFRUIT: We’re in the final stretch for stonefruit. Peaches are past their peak, but plums are a standout late-summer choice. Yellow nectarines are just past their best but still eating well.

EXOTIC: Prickly pear and Australian mangosteen are in, along with the first of the autumn exotics - Australian pomegranates, nashi pears and custard apples have started to arrive.

VEGETABLES

TOMATOES: All varieties are looking good this week. Heirlooms are still eating beautifully.

ASPARAGUS: Imported only now, as the Australian season has wrapped up.

AVOCADO: Hass avocados are eating well - great texture and flavour.

GOOD VALUE / RECOMMENDED: Carrots, green capsicum, cauliflower and corn are all great value this week.

FLOWERS: Cooler weather is much kinder to cut flowers. Lovely natives are around at the moment - long-lasting banksias and proteas - and freesias are having a particularly good run.
